Painting can help update your home and give it a fresh and clean feel. Whether you're painting one room, just your baseboards and doors, or you are painting your entire home, it can make your home look and feel like new. Painting can be a bit of a pain, especially if you have a lot to paint around, or you have a lot of furniture to move around. Painting is an exhausting job, which is one reason why you should hire a professional painter to paint your home for you. If you are tackling the work on your own, read on for a few tips to make painting a bit easier for you.

1. Use Painter's Tape

Painter's tape can help you if you don't have a steady hand to keep your lines straight. Use it to keep paint off of surfaces where you don't want the paint to get onto, such as baseboards, ceilings, or even your carpeting/flooring. Use a wide painter's tape to prevent over-painting the painter's tape. Painter's tape will peel off without taking off your paint or damaging it in any way. You should pull off the tape before the paint dries. When applying the tape, make sure to press it firmly in place to prevent any gaps in the tape, which can lead to paint bleed.

2. Use A Good Roller And Paintbrush

Invest in a good paint roller and paintbrush when painting your home. Sure, others may be cheaper, but that's what your paint job will look like as well. A good paintbrush and roller can go a long way. Don't skimp on paint either, you need to invest in good quality paint. Cheap paint will require more coats of paint, which means more work for you.

3. Cover Your Furniture

Rather than emptying a room, cover your furniture instead with a drop cloth or with sheets to protect your furniture from paint splatters. Moving all of your furniture out of a room can be time-consuming, not to mention the back-breaking labor involved in doing so. Cover your furniture and move it out of the way towards the center of the room, rather than emptying the room. In bathrooms, you should cover your sink and tape around it, and the toilet should be covered with a garbage bag to protect it, rather than removing it altogether.

Painting can be a pain, but there are a few things you can do to make the job easier for you. If none of this sounds appealing to you, hire a professional and get it done.

About Me
Painting Without The Problems

I have always been one of those people who likes to take on home repairs by theirselves, but unfortunately, I didn't quite understand what I was up against when it came to repainting my interior. I quickly realized that the job was more difficult than I was prepared to handle, and I was having trouble figuring out how to streamline the process. I began focusing on working with a professional, and within no time a painter came out to help. After the job was professionally handled, it was amazing to see how quickly it progressed.
